We are a world of indoor and outdoor fun that is always free to visit. Our one-of-a-kind historic Playhouse offers three floors of interactive play. Our 6 1/2 acre Playground has multiple zones for climbing, swinging, spinning and exploring as well as our famous Ann Newman Giant Wooden Slide—a Philadelphia tradition.

Please Note: Smith Memorial Playground is always closed on Mondays.

Welcome to the Smith's new Front Gateway!
Our Front Gateway Project is now complete, transforming Smith’s main entrance into a more welcoming, accessible, and safer arrival experience for families and visitors of all ages and abilities. The project includes improved pathways, clearer wayfinding, better parking flow, and an enhanced front lawn that reflects Smith’s deep commitment to inclusion, safety, and the power of play.
We hope you enjoy this refreshed entrance and invite you to make it your own. From first visits to everyday moments of joy, we look forward to welcoming families through the Gateway and to many spontaneous dance parties along the way.

Fantastic Flight
The newest Smith Play-Stallation is taking flight!
Fantastic Flight will feature all things that fly, flutter and float! This theme will include butterflies, bees, dandelion bristles, birds, other flying animals as well as airplanes, hot air balloons and clouds. The Play-Stallation will feature an air traffic control center, an airplane and even a trampoline as a make-shift hot air balloon basket. Explorers will be able to make their own snowflakes or bees and add to our display or create their own butterfly with gingko leaves.
Fantastic Flight will open on Tues, January 20. Come check it out on the first floor of the Playhouse in the Bodek Den.

Now enrolling: Wonderspring Preschool at Smith Memorial Playground offers an evidence based, state approved curriculum led by highly qualified teachers, with hands on learning in engaging indoor and outdoor environments.
